Here is how this system came to be.
Like most coaches, I started out. Only one big exception. I had sales training. I had great sales training, but I didn’t apply it to coaching. For me, coaching was a special thing that you did from a loving place and selling had nothing to do with it.
I did the same things. I tried to hit a grand slam home run by solving all of my potential clients problems in one free coaching session.
I did a free session after a free session. mediocre results Few people hired me. I picked up a few clients because of the large number of free sessions I was doing. I began to notice a trend. The people who seemed to be hiring me were the ones who spent the least time with. This was the first clue to what works.
The next thing happened. I noticed that selling was a lot like coaching when I reviewed my sales training programs. I saw that coaching and selling were like twins that were separated at birth. I discovered something surprising while applying my sales skills to my free coaching sessions.
I was surprised to find that. The people I used my selling skills with got more value from our free coaching session than I did. They still felt like they got tremendous value from our free session even if they hired me or not. Over the years, I kept modifying my approach. I began to share my methods with other coaches and watched them grow their businesses very quickly.
There is a side note. I never coached that many other coaches. In my first 6 years, I had only worked with 5 coaches as 1-on-1 clients and 4 out of the 5 took their businesses to over $100K/year within 18 months, the one that didn’t get to over $100K stopped coaching with me after 2 months. Within 90 days, one of them jumped from zero to 6 figures.
