There is a person named Joni Gilbertson, MA, LCPC, LMHC. I am a licensed clinical professional counselor, court program specialist and distance counselor. She is licensed in both Illinois and Florida. She is an instructor in the Sociology Department at the college where she teaches legal issues and many other mental health and criminal justice classes. She was presented with the award for Teachers Who Make a Difference due to her engaging style of teaching.

She is the owner of COPE Counseling Services. Family treatment for both adults and children and court-ordered programming for people within the court system are what these centers specialize in. She is certified in domestic violence facilitation, sex offenders training, distance counseling, andselective creative therapies.

She has many years of experience working in law enforcement and as a chief of Probation where she was responsible for training the staff on ethics and legal issues, suicide awareness, and other work related topics. She trained the mental health staff on legal issues, ethics, and other topics while she was a prison therapist. She gives many trainings and lectures on ethics, legal issues, mental health and suicide prevention.
