Description
With more people using computers and cell phones, neck and shoulder pain is on the rise. Evaluating movement-related impairments in patients/clients is an essential skill in managing pain. The session will look at how the control mechanisms of the body contribute to pain syndromes. Tools for identifying and treating these problems will be discussed.

Faculty
Sue DuPont is an ATC. With over 30 years of experience treating patients and athletes of all ages and activity levels, he is an expert in the field of orthopedics and sports medicine. She holds a number of degrees, including a B.S. in Exercise Science/Athletic Training, an M.S. in Biology, and a post-baccalaureate degree in Physical Therapy. She received a fellowship at the U.S. Olympic Training Center after working on the Medical Staff at the 1996 Summer Olympic Games. She has worked with many elite athletes. Ms. DuPont presented findings from her research at the APTA National Conference.
There are courses for seniors on healthy aging. She has been teaching fitness courses for over 20 years. Research has been done on the spine, aging, balance, and fitness. She uses advanced clinical techniques in manual therapy, taping/strapping, active stabilization, and soft tissue release to improve functional movement patterns. Ms. DuPont teaches continuing education courses. She sits on the Advisory Board for Southwest Florida University’s PTA program when she is home in Florida.
