Over a long period of time, we have developed a vision for e-business integration. As we have worked in business practice for many years prior to and in parallel with our academic research, we have always thought of tegration as a real business tool. Business objectives were at the center of our research when we started our project on Ontologies-based R- onciliation for Business Integration. We were very happy to be able to form a project consortium that included not only renowned researchers but also experienced business practitioners from a range of companies. Each played a role in the development of the application components that are based on the me- ods we have developed. It is possible that this book will find its way into the offices and minds of business practitioners around the world who are dealing with the challenge of integrating their business processes, applications and information. The book is about understanding each other and what we do and think. We had many opportunities to apply this underlying philosophy within the project. The results show that it was worth the effort.
