The Gentle Tai Chi routine was developed in response to the frustration felt by beginning students who wanted to learn tai chi, but found many of the traditional forms or routines. The relaxing quality of tai chi can be felt without having to concentrate on specific movements.

All of the traditional tai chi movements are included in the routine, making it easy to learn. The movements are great for large group programs. The tape contains 42 minutes of Tai Chi.

A warm-up routine. There is a detailed instruction of 12 traditional Tai Chi movements. The Tai Chi routine is gentle. The seated version of the routine is called Gentle Tai Chi.

An enthusiastic instructor leads viewers through a series of easy tai chi movements. It seems clear that her target audience is those who find strenuous exercise difficult, as she performs a few stretches and a short workout while seated. The warm-up section begins with a series of self-massages to improve flexibility and circulation, followed by a series of low-impact standing exercises. She runs through her entire routine first, then breaks it into individual moves with detailed instructions. There are many camera angles that show exactly what is happening. The simple movements are enhanced by Munn’s tips on breathing and her images for each movement, such as polishing a table.
