Alex Grey – Chapel of Sacred Mirrors (Cosm) Documentary

One of my favorite artists is the subject of this documentary. He made the artwork for many Tool releases. This is a must watch. I found myself learning a lot when I watched this movie, I uploaded the movie and the extra parts.

Filmmaker Nick Krasnic does a good job of allowing Grey’s narration, as he explains the concepts and inspiration behind each piece, to be the focus of each scene. This is the best thing for fans of Grey’s who have not visited The Chapel of Sacred Mirrors. Grey is given a forum to detail his works. Grey is able to be delicate and patient with his explanations because the film avoids a simple overdub of a description while the camera focuses on the painting. I felt like a different person. I felt better. I felt like Grey was working on me. I was trapped in the depths of his showcase and felt like I was in the rooms. The visual impact of the pieces, the colors, the size, and the intricate detail is immediately arresting… The closest that someone outside of New York City will get is the documentary.
