I used to juggle many balls in the air growing my online publishing business. I knew I needed 2 things in order to fuel the growth of my sites.

There are systems.

Other people can help.

I hired my first VA and didn’t know anything. I quickly learned that I had to give up some systems. Without systems, I wouldn’t be free of my sites.

I spent the next couple of years hiring more people, outsourcing more content and honing my systems so that quality improved and output increased.

The following are included in my systems.

Tracking processes.

The organizational structure has defined roles.

Training methods that are fast.

The hiring processes are proven.

There are clear employee expectations.

There are templates and checklistss.

All of the above were set up over time and now have systems in place that run without me. It has enabled me to grow my business quickly.

What do I have to do?

I could save a few bucks each month and do a lot of the system myself, but by letting my system do it for me, I can try out new traffic sources and monetization opportunities.

Testing is an important part of growing an online business because new technologies, traffic sources, methods, and monetization opportunities crop up almost weekly.

Increasing traffic by 10% will cover the cost of my entire team. Over the course of a year, my tinkering efforts will pay off if I achieve that a couple times. I like the idea of coming up with new ideas.

The real reason you need systems and a team is for your business to grow.

Unless it runs with little or no involvement without you, you don’t have a business. You have a job. If you want to build a large online publishing business, you need to plan, establish and build systems that run your output.
