Description

The Malleus Maleficarum was written by James Sprenger and Heinrich Kramer.

Like Hitler’s Mein Kampf, Malleus Maleficarum is a book that is read for historical importance rather than enjoyment. If for no other reason that it is a seminal textbook on the inhumanity of humanity, it should be a part of every thinking person’s library. The most important work on witchcraft to date was given the imprimatur of the Holy See after it was first written in 1484. The paranoia of the fifteenth century is frightening for modernity. Anything done for the benefit of the state is good. It is a guide on how to capture, torture, and execute witches. It is a rant against women, heretics, independent thinkers, romantic lovers, the sensitive passions, human sexuality, and compassion. The men who followed them worshiped their own arrogance as they claimed to be doing God’s work. Be afraid if you read it. There is no estimate of how many women and men were killed by this book. Some historians think the numbers may run into millions. The text is rife with examples of witchcraft, some of which are clearly delusional and silly, if they hadn’t ended in gruesome deaths for the accused. Take the case of a woman who was burned for saying that it might rain today. The instructions to Judges to tell the truth to the witch that death is a mercy to those prisoner to the devil are included in the book. The Malleus is based on twisted logic. The translator is fond of the learning andwisdom of the Malleus authors. He praised the brillance of this work and its importance in this feministic era in two embarrassingly effusive and bigoted introductions. For being 20th century, and particularly post-World War Two, the commentary by Summers is frightening. Future commentators will make a lot of the statements of Summers, a modern man like the Papal Bull of VIII. TheMalleus Maleficarum was used too often and too freely as a license to kill. Millions of people have died because of the madness presented in this book.
