Many traders and investors classify themselves as price action traders because price and the price chart are the beginning and the end of technical analysis. They only consider the price and nothing else. However, for myself and many others, this approach completely ignores the extension of price to its logical association with volume, which together then reveals the truth behind the raw data of price. Every market participant’s views are encapsulated in a price chart. Technical analysis is simply price analysis, and traders can forecast the future direction of price by studying where it has been in the past.

The market manipulation which occurs in all markets and all timeframes is what it fails to account for. In order to see inside the market, and what the market makers are doing, we have one tool at our disposal which reveals their activity instantly, and that is volume. The foundation stone of price and volume is volume price analysis. Think again if you think this is a new approach. One of the greatest traders of all time, Richard Wyckoff, developed the method which was first developed by the founding father of technical analysis. All of the traders who used the same approach had one thing in common. All of them used the ticker tape to read the prices and associated volumes to forecast the future.
