Based on my upbringing, I am the least likely guy to succeed. My parents were blue-collar workers with no college education, and if I tell you my home life was dysfunctional, rest assured I’m being conservative. In the introduction, I get into this more. I went nowhere after I was out on my own.
Most people will tell you that it is not. What? You know, it is. Who? The greatest lesson I have learned is that this is. completely. Wrong.

I thought I was going to have a nervous breakdown when I filed for bankruptcy in 1997.
After years of nothing but bad breaks, and making one wrong decision after another, my life began to turn around. I saw a light at the end of my tunnel for the first time.
I have a personal life. Finally. They started coming together. I had an opportunity to think, instead of constantly having to handle things in survival mode, and running around like a chicken with its head cut off. Clear mind. About what I do. Really. I wanted to do that.
I wanted to create a business that was driven by emotional direct-response marketing and copywriting principles. I wanted to be the best at it.
It wasn’t easy in the beginning, but I had a knack for this kind of work. I had been in sales for a long time. How? People do things. Why? They do things. As a kid growing up in an incredibly difficult household environment, I thought about these things to get through my daily grind.

I started setting up shop to get my name out there. I started getting clients. Clients and peers seemed to like me. They were attracted to my enthusiasm. By the results of my work. I created some great promotions and developed some great strategic advice that worked well.
