Painting Landscapes Level 1 is an introductory course exploring some of the basic principles of Landscape Painting designed for any level.
“PAINTING LANDSCAPES – LEVEL 1″
Discover How Easy It Is To Paint Great Looking
Landscape Paintings Even If You
Are An Absolute Beginner.
Each week you will receive a complete lesson that builds on the lesson from the previous week. You will watch the videos and use the comprehensive notes provided to complete the exercises yourself. Once you complete each exercise, take some photos and send them to us for review so we can make sure you are on track.
We can only take a maximum of 20 students due to the fact that we will be giving detailed feedback each week.
This course is perfect for beginners and anyone who has never picked up a brush before. We will show you everything you need to know to start painting, including brushes, paints and canvases.
We will be covering this over the course of 6 weeks.
Skies week 1
There is an introduction to landscape painters for beginners. The most critical factor of where to place the horizon will be discussed.
We will start looking at the skies. On a sunny day, we will paint a clear blue sky. Some realistic clouds will be added next. We will look at how to paint the setting sun in the sky. This is a simple technique that has great effects.
The second week was Mountains & Hills.
There are mountains and hills in almost every landscape painting. In week 2 we will discuss how to create mountains that look like they are in the distance. The most important thing to know about colour in the landscape is that most beginners don’t understand which is why their paintings lack depth or realism. We will look at how to get the light on the mountains.
Week 3 is about trees.
You can’t paint a landscape if you don’t paint trees. We will look at trees in the distance, mid ground and foreground. Simple shapes are highly effective. We will discuss how to make trees look realistic rather than flat. Three different values will be looked at to develop trees. We will look at how to use trees in your landscape.
Week 4 includes Buildings, Fences, Paths and other elements.
The small details that make up a landscape bring it to life. Adding in buildings and farmhouses will be looked at. There are elements of human activity around these. Some sheep and cows will be added to the landscape. These little touches will make your painting better.
Week 5 includes Foreground, Rocks, Grasses, Water.
We will focus on the foreground now that we are in week 5. Many beginners don’t understand the importance of finishing off the foreground right. We are going to look at rocks, broken tree branches, grasses, water and more. I will show you how important it is to use the right colour temperature in the foreground to create depth in a painting. We will look at how to lead the viewers eye to where you want it to go.
You will have completed at least four small landscape studies by the time you finish week 5.
Week 6 is Paint Your First Landscape.
In week 6 I will paint a complete demonstration painting of a typical landscape for you which will pull together all of the elements we have learned in the previous five weeks. Understanding how each of the previous weeks lessons work together to form one complete painting is important. I will teach you everything you need to know and then you can paint it.
The final painting you will complete is here.
