Don’t do this and do that product. It is about how you get things done. Overwhelm is one of the biggest issues according to the people on my list. Not having time. It’s too much to learn and too much to do.

The lack of focus seems to be an issue.

Imagine being able to use a magic wand. If you wave it, you can get rid of a lot of the overwhelm.

That is what this product is about.

I will be the first to say that I am not God. I don’t pretend to be. I walk with clay feet. Like everyone else, I get distracted. I try to do too much. The answers I have here came from my own life.

I developed these solutions for myself. They are not theory. They are outside. There is a real world.

This business and why I think overwhelm happens and what causes us to LOSE focus in the first place should be the first thing we talk about.

Have you ever had this happen?

You are working on something. It could be coming up with ideas, writing an email, or a new website. Then there is a pop up. You need to do this. You check your email when you go to a web site.

You are on a goose chase of epic proportions. You forget what you started out to do after an hour or two passes.

There is a solution if you have had that happen. It is relatively painless. If you asked me six months ago if I thought this was the solution, I would have said no.

The solution is called the Foghorn Method. I will tell you more later.

There are many things that lead to overwhelm. These are a Gordian knot. There is a knot of ancient legend that no one can change.

1. The learning curve.

There is a learning curve in internet marketing. We try to deal with it by learning it all at the same time, which is worse.

Whew!

There is a solution to this. The backlog list is called The Backlog List. I will get to it soon.

The root of the issue is not having priorities. You are trying to learn all the things at the same time.

There is a lack of a clearcut model.

2. There is a fast pace of online business.

When you think you have learned how to get high rankings on the internet, you are wrong.

Just when you think you know what you want to do to get traffic, a new easier way shows up in your email box and you decide to do it instead.

Something new is always on the way. Something is always changing. This can lead to overwhelm and create a very fast pace.

The solution is to use the prioritization matrixes. I will tell you more soon.

3. Money is under pressure.

You feel like you have to do it all in one night. You work like a maniac when you jump in the deep end. Sometimes a good idea is a bad one. Part of the panic might be eliminated by a better strategy.

There is a process that will get you on the right track and keep you from getting derailed, even though there is no magic cure for money problems. It is called the simplest solution focus.

4. The joy of learning.

It doesn’t make sense to say that the joy of learning could cause overwhelm or lack of focus. Let me tell you how it works for me.

I enjoy learning new things. I buy a new item. It may take a few days to digest the new information. I want to put it into action as soon as possible. This work is added on top of what you are already doing.

It feels great to learn new things. When do you have time to implement it all?

I will be checking out a web site. Since this is the world wide web, it links to other sites. You click the link. That leads to another link.

Before you know it, the search for an ezine you could advertise in ends up taking you to videos about a cat chasing a ball of string or something unrelated.

I end up on other websites about cool marketing stuff. It was unrelated to my initial search. There is a time and place for chasing down links. Why and for what purpose?

That is the question.

The solution to this is using the Foghorn Method Correctly, timeboxing and setting crystal clear outcomes on top of having a process to prioritize.

5. There are technical problems.

You will run into technical problems depending on which marketing model you follow. It is not possible to get the XYZ to work on the blog. The plug-in won’t install correctly. The commission isn’t being tracked correctly.

You can run into a million technical problelms. Problem solving skills are required. This is a huge issue if you aren’t a good problem-solver. By the time you solve the problems, you run out of time to create products and market them.

I won’t say everything about internet marketing is easy. I keep this real. On occasion, you run into problems.

A process for outsourcing is the solution to this. I will tell you what I know about that and the real world. There is no theory or good-sounding stuff here. I will talk about the good and bad things I have done in outsourcing. I have done things right and made mistakes along the way.

6. There was no clear outcome.

It is easy to do anything you want without a plan or big picture in mind. This strategy is not the most productive and causes the lack of focus.

7. There is no process to sort out the priority of projects.

There are a million ways to market your products.

You can do webinars, teleseminars, dvd’s, ebooks, printed books, manuals, courses, cd’s, podcasts, membership sites, consulting, coaching, reports, and more!

There are a lot of ways to market those: content network pay per click, search pay per click, cpm pay per click, internet marketing, butterfly sites, safelists, affiliate programs, banner ads, adbrite and more.

All of the above combinations can be used for your front-end product, OTO, or back end products.

There are projects with low risk but dim longterm payoffs. There are projects that are easy to scale up. There are projects that don’t require a lot of time and those that take a lot of time. There are a lot of product ideas.

2. There are prioritization matrixes.

You have to get rid of your to do list. The traditional to do list is a waste of time and energy. You will replace your to do list with my prioritized BUCKET strategy. This will be mind freeing.

You will feel a renewed sense of energy. There will be no doubt in your mind what decisions to make when you see what needs to be done with such clarity.

3. The amount of time that has gone by.

You no longer have to worry about everything you have forgotten. The backlog has an order and clarity to it.

Waterfall time management methods are where you plan things out a month or more at a time. Some people think you should plan a year in advance.

There is a time and place for this, but it is also that things change. The world has doubled in pace over the last 20 years. It is not possible to plan a year in advance.

Time management and project management approaches based on waterfall systems can not adapt to change. The backlog makes you a mean adaptive machine.

The strongest, fastest or smartest species did not survive. He said the ones that could change.

4. There is outsourcing.

I have been outsourcing my business since day one. I have done it all. I had part time assistants. Had virtual assistants. I had full time assistants. Part time assistants. I did it all myself. There were part time employees in the office. There were full time employees in the office.

For less than the value of your time, you can get others to do things you don’t like to do. You can focus on the things you like to do if you just focus on the things you are good at.

By outsourcing properly.

5. Simple solution focus.
