Director of Government Affairs

The Director of Government Affairs is Lisa Ekman. She has more than 16 years of experience working to improve economic security for people with disabilities, focusing on SSDI and Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Medicare and Medicaid, employment programs, and long-term services and supports. At the Social Security Administration, she worked on the development and implementation of the Ticket to Work Program. She worked as a staff member to the Ticket to Work and Work Incentives Advisory Panel and as a disability policy advisor to the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee. She earned her law degree after working for the Association of University Centers on Disabilities as a policy analyst. She was the Director of Federal Policy for Health & Disability Advocates. The American Association of People with Disabilities, the Consortium for Citizens with Disabilities, and the National Academy of Social Insurance have all received her services. She received her J.D., cum laude, from Georgetown University and her Masters in Social Work from the University of Denver.

NOSSCR has a Director of Policy and Administrative Advocacy. Cloyd is an advocate for laws, regulations, policies, and public perception that strengthen Social Security. Ms. Cloyd was an attorney at Bread for the City, a nonprofit legal clinic in Washington, DC. She was the senior domestic policy analyst at Bread for the World Institute. Ms. Cloyd received a law degree from Smith College and a master’s degree in urban planning from the University of Michigan.
