Thompson received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in International Studies from the University of South Carolina in 1994. She received a Juris Doctor degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law and a Master of International Business Studies degree from the Darla Moore School of Business. She became a partner in 2007. The area of Social Security Disability is where she practices. The Fourth South Carolina Association for Justice, the American Association for Justice, the South Carolina Women Lawyers Association, and the South Carolina Bar Association are all represented by her. As a judge for the Middle School, High School and College mock trial competition, she often volunteers with the South Carolina Pro Bono program. She is a graduate of the Leadership Academy and serves on the Board of Trustees. In addition to chairing the Social Security Disability section of the South Carolina Association for Justice, she is also a member of the SC Bar Publications Committee, Pro Bono Committee and serves on the solo/small firm council. She has been a speaker at numerous seminars regarding social security disability throughout the state, including the South Carolina Association for Justice Annual Conference, and has organized and moderated social security seminars for the South Carolina Bar Association. In the areas of general practice tips, initial interviews, case development, and dealing with the electronic file, as well as being the feature speaker on national teleconferences in various areas of initial case development, Stacy has been a speaker. Social Security Disability Cases in South Carolina: Basic Case Evaluation and Management and Handling a Social Security Disability Case have been published. She is an active member of the Junior League of Columbia, where she served as Vice- President for Community and has chaired the Refugee Outreach Committee. She received the award in 2012 for her dedication to community voluntarism and activism through her JLC work and training. As President of the Board of the Palmetto Mastersingers, he was responsible for the advancement of independent living for individuals with disabilities. She is a member of the board of Special Olympics of South Carolina. She is a member of the USC Association of Letterman, a passionate Gamecock and proud mom of several rescue pets.
