Mike graduated from Central Methodist University with a B.A. in Political Science. He served 13 months in Vietnam after being drafted into the U.S. Army. After returning home, Mike attended law school and received his J.D. from the University of Missouri at Columbia. His military experience allowed him to return to the U.S. Army and serve in the J.A.G. Corps as a defense attorney and Summary Court Military Judge.

In 1976, Mike established his own law firm and stayed there for 27 years. He gained experience in the areas of family law, criminal defense, bankruptcy, probate, real estate, farm and agricultural matters and served as the city attorney.

Mike and Marilyn returned to the St. Louis area in order to care for their elderly parents. He practices family law, estate planning, real estate, small business law, and offers flat fee billing for his clients.

Mike is a speaker for Missouri Bar Practical Skills Courses, National Business Institute, and the University of Missouri Law School. He is a member of the Missouri Bar and the St. Charles County Bar Association. The Watkins Law Firm was voted the #1 law firm in St. Charles County for three years in a row.
