He is the leading author on the subject of Colossus, the computer assessment program used by most auto insurance companies for evaluating personal injury claims. There are multiple professional education videos on the topics of traumatic injuries and insurance that DeShaw is featured in.

He holds a Juris Doctorate and a Doctor ofChiropractic. He practiced medicine in five countries and was a doctor at the exclusive Hale Clinic in London England. He lectures to doctors and lawyers.

His peers have elected him to the Super Lawyers in the past. He works at his own firm in Oregon, but also with the nationally prominent firm of Friedman | Rubin in Seattle, Washington.

Most of his personal injury cases involve traumatic brain injuries, with the rest being catastrophic injuries such as quadriplegia, spinal cord injuries, amputation, and wrongful death cases. He does jury trials on medical injury cases. His cross-examination of a witness uncovered that the doctor did not have an M.D. degree. Other defense doctors don’t show up to testify.

The Brain Injury Alliance of Oregon is an association of doctors, lawyers, and other health care providers who are dedicated to helping people with life changing brain injuries.

She has given over 350 speeches on medical/legal issues throughout the world and is often invited as the state keynote speaker. She has spoken in every state of the United States. She has spoken in Paris, France, Jaipur, India, and Kyoto, Japan.

She has written chapters in books with people such as David Ball. The American Association for Justice and the International Federation for Human Rights receive a percentage of her book profits. Her book, Exposing Deceptive Defense Doctors was a best seller for 3 years in a row and went into reprint status soon after publication. She has written books for parents who have been injured. The books can be requested for free. The cover of the December, 2015 issue of The American Association for Justice Journal is one of the articles she has authored.

She studied international law at Oxford University and received her undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Florida. She is licensed in the states of Florida, US District Court, US District Court, and the Middle District of Florida. She cross examined experts in many states.

Black lung benefits were denied to miners in Kentucky. Going down into the bowels of a mine in Eastern Kentucky, she felt the sound of coal being blasted. Despite wearing a mask, her trip left her coughing and sneezing coal dust for days; leading to a newfound respect for the miners who had spent decades in the mines.

After representing coal miners, she began representing workers who were injured and denied medical care. She was president of the Florida Workers’ Advocates, the state’s first watchdog over the insurance industry devoted to serving injured.

Sims was the first woman to be elected Chair of the Florida Bar Worker’s Compensation Section and volunteered time to lobby on behalf of the injured. She was the President of the bar association.

She noticed an alarming pattern while practicing law. The forensic experts hired by the other side were reaching conclusions by misrepresenting the science, ignoring the science, misrepresenting the facts, and testifying beyond their own training and education.

Oregon K. Hunter, Jr. is a board certified rehabilitation medicine doctor.

He ran a brain injury and pain management program in Honolulu and was the past president of the Florida Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He co-authored the Florida Impairment Rating Guide and has written a number of chapters and articles.
