Description
Are you ready to hear that your favorite long-term couple client is fighting because one of them is interested in exploring polyamory but the other is not? Would you choose to work with a couple who told you on the phone that they love 2 other people and that there are tensions between them? Many people are exploring consensually non-monogamous relationships and related issues are showing up in therapy rooms everywhere. This workshop will debunk myths, distinguish between non-monogamies, present up-to-date information on poly, and take a look at personal bias. Expect a lot of discussion and case presentations. If you learn how to identify and disrupt maladaptive strategies, you will be better prepared to work with a variety of poly relationship challenges.
The educational objectives are listed.
1. Determine when and who should be in the therapy room for a poly family.
2. Information and resources are provided for clients who want to open their relationship.
3. There are at least three common poly relationship challenges.
