Description
This is a description.
The workshop explores how trauma affects people. The way the brain processes information can be changed by trauma. traumatized people react in a variety of ways to current experience as a replay of the past because of altered biological systems. We will look at ways of befriending one’s body, both of which are essential for integration of traumatic memories: sensations, action patterns and physical sensations derived from the past. Insight and understanding can only have a limited influence on people’s control over the processes that are automatically processed on subcortical levels in the brain. The efficacy of various techniques to help people overcome a traumatic past and regain the capacity to be fully alive in the present will be presented.
The educational objectives are listed.
- Describe recent developments in neuroscience as they relate to the treatment of PTSD.
- Demonstrate techniques of physical mastery, affect regulation attention and memory processing.
- Explain how experience itself, and controlled body action, individually and in groups, can powerfully help overcome traumatic repetitions and continued fight/flight/freeze responses.
Session may be edited to preserve confidentiality.
