The founder of the 5 Rhythms movement practice was a quintessential woman of the body and sometimes called an urban shaman. The originator of most modern methods of systemic therapy was Gregory Bateson. During the legendary times of the late 1970s, Bateson encouraged Roth to bring her creation to the world. The work of these two pioneers and how to integrate movement and mind to create generative resources for change and healing will be explored in this workshop.

The educational objectives are listed.

1. List the Five Rhythms of Gabrielle Roth and describe how they contribute to the process of change.
2. Apply Gregory Bateson’s strategy of “living metaphor” to discover and transfer resources from one area of a person’s life to another.
3. Practice combining movement and metaphor to generate solutions and promote healing.
