The body must reflect a change in personality. One can change bodily attitude by working with the energy dynamics of the body. One can open up deep feelings if one mobilizes a person’s energy. This is important in the treatment of depression, which is connected to an energetic collapse in the body. Alexander Lowen is a doctor. He was a doctor and a therapist. He and John Pierrakos worked together to develop bioenergetic analysis, a form of mind-body psychotherapy. The founder and former executive director of the International Institute for Bioenergetic Analysis was Lowen.

Polster is a doctor. He is an assistant clinical professor at the Department of Psychiatry, School of Medicine, University of California, San Diego. She is a co-author of a book with her husband. She received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Case Western Reserve University.
