This is a description.

The University of Wisconsin School of Medicine graduated a doctor in 1925. The next 55 years of his career were devoted to researching, practicing, learning, refining, teaching, and publishing the lessons of his creative intuition and experience. His practices changed over time. The last two decades of his life, and even more so in the 40 years since his death, he influenced the number of ideas and interventions attributed to him. The Palo Alto Mental Research Institute, Haley, de Shazer, and solution focused therapy were enriched by his influence. There were tools of intention, self-psychology, magic questions, possibility therapy, and more. His work included second-ordered learning, ultradian rhythms, baseball diamonds, butterflies, neurolinguistics, aesthetic art, building happiness, and even ventures into speculative quantum consciousness.

The field was enriched by the work of Erickson. It’s fitting to set these creative trappings aside on this 40th conference. We will rediscover what he thought was essential in his work after this keynote about his legacy.
