Description

This is a description.

The workshop will teach participants how to use metaphors and stories to help patients survive and thrive after life-changing surgery. The material will focus on Ericksonian approaches that help patients heal. Clinical examples from transplant patients will be presented. Face transplants are very rare. They usually take many months to prepare. Doctors in Poland performed the world’s first emergency face transplant in May. The patient began the rehabilitation process after the procedure. The patient was helped by edersonian hypnotism to cope with the challenges of recovery. The patient stood on the border between being and being after the surgery. In the case of breast reconstruction after mastectomy, the therapeutic goal is to help patients return to a state before the disease. A new and positive image of the patient is associated with healing. The presentation, demonstrations, and practice opportunities will be guided by an Ericksonian perspective. The focus will be on how to best adapt the therapy to the patient. Just as surgeons reconstruct the patient’s body that is impacted by disease, so the therapists make treatment for each patient.

The educational objectives are listed.

  1. List the elements of psychotherapeutic tale.
  2. Create a psychotherapeutic story using informations from an interview with the patient.
  3. Discuss three different ways to present a hypnotic story.

Session may be edited to preserve confidentiality.
