Description
Jessica was a student in a nursing program. She had heard that if you don’t document, you will get in trouble. No one could explain what that meant. During her orientation as a new graduate, she was reassured that writing too much was a waste of time, as she was taught how to document the unit requirements. Jessica never questioned anything else. Jessica was thinking at this time in her career. The computer takes care of charting. I can sleep soundly if I chart what my unit audits for.
Jessica sat quietly at the deposition table, her head hung low, and she hadn’t slept in months. She was sworn in after they asked her to spell her name. Do you promise to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth?
It could happen to you if this could happen to Jessica. How did this happen? What did Jessica do that turned into a deposition? How does this happen to a good nurse?
There are many lawsuits against nurses in healthcare today. There is more responsibility. The rate of nurses becoming involved in lawsuits is increasing. This is an interesting and intriguing look into nursing documentation. From a litigious viewpoint, this recording will immerse you into the world of nursing.
Don’t end up like Jessica. You can sleep soundly tonight if you learn how to protect yourself.
