This course will review licensure and supervision laws for supervisors providing supervision.
The requirements for license renewal are set in the Arizona Rules and Statutes and this course is sponsored by the Scottsdale Recovery Center. It is important to note that the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners have the final say on acceptance of CEUs.
This training is designed to strengthen supervisors’ awareness of their needs for supervision and licensure through lecture, discussion, and activities. This course is appropriate for clinicians who are pursuing independent licensure. The Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners have the final say on acceptance of CEUs.
The laws and statutes pertaining to licensure from the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health will be reviewed in this course. The course will discuss how to organize and track work experience hours.
The objectives of the course.
- Describe licensure and supervision laws
- Create organization and structure as a Supervisor to ensure all requirements are met during supervision.
- Review contract for Supervision as needed and components to include
- Create individualized tracking system for ongoing tracking of work experience hours to verify hours used in the licensure process.
- Describe documentation requirements of supervision and timelines for compliance
- Define work experience terms as stated by BBHE.
- Review of best practices and professional conduct.
- Review process of supervisee’s licensure application for independent licensure.

Charise graduated from the Marriage and Family Therapy program at Arizona State University. She is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who has worked as a clinician in multiple clinical settings including public mental health, private community agencies, as well as private practice. She has supervised graduate intern clinicians and associate clinicians. She is a member of various clinical organizations for therapists and has additional training in the areas of Emotionally Focused Therapy and Eye movement Desensitization and Reprocessing.
Minon Maier is an M.A.
Minon graduated from the Marriage and Family Therapy program at the University of San Diego in 2005. She is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who has worked in a variety of settings including public mental health, acute care, private community agencies, as well as private practice. She has supervised graduate intern clinicians and associate clinicians in the community health settings. She is a member of various clinical organizations for therapists and has additional training in the areas of Emotionally Focused Therapy and Eye movement Desensitization and Reprocessing.
