This training is designed to develop and strengthen knowledge and understanding of legal and ethical requirements in the Behavioral Health field. The course is sponsored by the Recovery Center. It is important to note that the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners have the final say on acceptance of CEUs.
Before reviewing the material within the segment, participants are encouraged to reflect on the questions contained prior to each section. Sound ethical judgment is a key part of learning and reflection. There are some guidelines for this.
- Familiarize oneself thoroughly with established standards
- Be sensitive to ethical problems as they arise, and take into account the complexity of these issues
- Remember that ethical decision-making is an evolutionary process that requires being continually open and self-critical
The objectives will be the focus of the training.
- Respond to common ethical dilemmas.

- Discuss the issue of competence and the steps a provider should take to maintain competence.
- Discuss issues related to informed consent.
- Discuss the dynamics of dual relationships.
- Discuss issues related to sexual relationships with clients including harm to therapist and client.

She is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who has worked as a clinician in multiple clinical settings including public mental health, private community agencies, as well as private practice. She has supervised graduate intern clinicians and associate clinicians. She is a member of various clinical organizations for therapists and has additional training in the areas of Emotionally Focused Therapy and Eye movement Desensitization and Reprocessing.
Minon Maier is an M.A.

She is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who has worked in a variety of settings including public mental health, acute care, private community agencies, as well as private practice.
