Dr. Parnell works with a client who has a history of sexual assaults and physical abuse. The client reported symptoms that were troubling to her. She believed the abuse had affected her ability to trust people.
The video shows the use of an Attachment-Focus in the use of EMDR through the therapeutic relationship, the use of resources, and the use of the modified protocol that allowed the client to feel safe enough to enter into and process the traumatic material.
We explored the history of the problem and installed resources. When she was a young girl, she was molested by a stranger. The target was developed using the modified protocol. She didn’t seem to have strong affect on the material she processed. The processing became stuck in some places and needed to be untangled. She processed the trauma, had a clear body Scan and closed the case with her resources.
