The world can be seen through the eyes of the Sacred Feminine. The masculine paradigm has divided the body and spirit. We have a dualistic viewpoint that encourages us to look at the world in a different way, and we have come to equate being spiritual with looking at the world in a different way.

In Greco-Roman mythology, the primordial embodiment of Mother Earth is called Gaia and she invites us into a living relationship with all of creation. According to the Hindu tradition, the quintessence of creative power is the life force that runs through the entire universe. We welcome the Sacred Feminine into our bodies in this opening session.

The great secret of the mystical journey is that devotion is the catalyst for connection, and the duality of lover and Beloved melt into an undifferentiated experience of pure Love.

The Hindu tradition says that the consort of Krishna, Lord of Love, is Radha. The Sabbath is the essence of Jewish mysticism and invites a true integration with the Divine Masculine.

We become conduits for the expression of the sacred when we open ourselves to the flow of creativity. Our souls want to rest from the demands of the analytical mind. The creative principle is depicted in many traditions as feminine. The Hindu goddess of knowledge and the arts, with her multiple arms holding books and musical instruments, represents the perfect of knowledge and the arts. The goddess of protection, healing and creation, Ixchel, helps spin the world into being.

The Mother is the co- creator of the world and the embodiment of unconditional love according to nearly every spiritual tradition on the planet. Our broken hearts are soothed by the refuge offered by the Mother, who calls us into community. Mary has a unique accessibility because of her humanity. She suffered a sword in her heart and extended mercy to all, but she was a woman who grappled with fear and acted with courage. Mary and Tonantzin, Aztec Goddess of the Earth, of Fertility, of the Corn, became Our Lady of the Conquest of Mexico, beloved spiritual Mother to millions.

We seem to go through crucifixions and resurrections in a single lifetime. From this shattered space, we are quickened with new life after certain experiences bring us to our knees.

When we call on the Goddess Kali Ma, most beloved of Hindu deities, she takes whatever is in the way of our liberation and transforms it. We burn for a while in her loving fire after this transformation. The Queen of the Underworld is the Greek Goddess Persephone. She is all about descent and the magic that happens when we abide in the darkness.

The full story of the Divine Mother is not fearsome. She is an embodiment of forgiveness and service. The Buddhist tradition calls for us to forgo our own liberation until all sentient beings are free.

The bodhisattvas of compassion who gather the broken world into their arms and lean in to listen to our stories are from China and Tibet. When we weep for the pain of the world, these entities are available to us as a source of strength and hope, empowering us to step up and offer ourselves for the benefit of all life.

In the literature of the Bible. There is wisdom. It is personified as feminine. According to Proverb 8,Wisdom is more precious than rubies and nothing can compare to her. Sophia is the feminine face of the Divine and the source of spiritual insight in the Gnostic and Christian mystical traditions. In ancient Greece men in power went to the oracle at Delphi for guidance in both practical and spiritual matters. When society is fragmented and the masculine paradigm is not enough to mend the world, the wisdom of the Sacred Feminine is needed more than ever.
