Improving quality of life is dependent on successful cognitive rehabilitation.

Jane Yakel is an M.S. CCC-SLP. A certified and licensed Speech- Language Pathologist with over 40 years of experience in the care of persons suffering from neurological disorders. Jane has worked in a variety of settings including acute care, outpatient clinics, home health agencies, skilled nursing homes, independent and assisted living facilities, hospitals and schools. She taught at the University of Wyoming, Utah State University and DeVry University. She is a regional clinical specialist, a national trainer for rehabilitation program directors, and a director of a community re-entry program for traumatic brain injury survivors. She has presented at national and state board continuing education courses on topics such as Prospective Payment System, Medicare Documentation, Ethics and Professionalism, Comprehensive Assessment of the Adult Patient, Quality Indicators: QI, Customer Service, and Nursing Documentation.

Jane is the author of two guides in the field of cognitive rehabilitation and Dysphagia. Jane has a book. There are interventions for dementia. There are intervention strategies for professionals working with patients who suffer from a decrease in cognitive status. The book was written for multiple disciplines within the healthcare field as well as caregivers.

Jane is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and served as a representative for the People to People Ambassador Program for America Speech and Hearing Association. She received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Wyoming.
