Janet Bush is an ED.S. A founding member of the Florida Art Therapy Association, a university instructor, author, and nationally known speaker, is also a certified art therapist.

She is the author of a textbook. The Handbook of School Art Therapy introduces art therapy into a public school system. There are three graduate education course guidebooks. She founded and directed a program of over 20 master art therapists from 1978 to 1999 while she was department chairperson for the Miami-Dade County Public Schools in the Division of Psychological Services. The establishment of a national model art therapy program was a major contribution to the field of art therapy.

20 full time art therapists are employed by the program. The Levick Emotional and Cognitive Art Therapy Assessment is a cognitive and emotional art therapy evaluation tool used by art therapists internationally.

The American Art Therapy Association and the Florida Art Education Association gave Coach Jan awards for her work in the public schools and the South Florida community.

Jan is an expert in the fields of art education, clinical art therapy, art in medicine and art in counseling. A consultant in private practice in Florida, Coach Jan retired from Miami Dade County Public Schools in 2011.
