Dr. Duwve is an associate dean for practice and clinical associate professor of health policy and administration at the Indiana University. The Center for Public Health Practice was created to support public health practice around the state and provide opportunities to link students to public health practice. She received a grant from the IU Addictions Grand Challenge to develop a center at IUPUI. The center supports training to diagnose and manage HIV and hepatitis C. The patients are lesbian, gay, bisexual, and queer. The principal investigator on a Mixed Methods research project is Dr. Duwve, who is a member of the Addictions Grand Challenge Scientific Advisory Committee. She enjoys working with students and staff. Drug Take Back events, poverty simulations, and campus movie nights are some of the community projects on the campus. For 10 years, Duwve was the Chief Medical Officer at the Indiana State Department of Health. She is a member of the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine Evaluation Committee, the Infectious Diseases Policy Committee for the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials, and the boards of Covering Kids and Families and the Indiana Public Health Association. Dr. Duwve received her MPH from the University of Michigan and her M.D. from the University of Baltimore. After practicing medicine for 14 years, she returned to public health. She started working with patients with opiate use disorder.
