High Lakes Health Care
Dr. Miller received her medical degree from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1997. She completed her residency in family practice at Eastmoreland Hospital in Portland, Oregon. She joined her husband’s practice at High Lakes Health Care in Bend, Oregon.
After contracting type-1 diabetes while in medical school, Dr. Miller has a special interest in the disease. Her practice has expanded into a specialty in diabetes care because of that personal experience. Dr. Miller has given over 600 lectures in the field of diabetes to health care providers and patients alike, on subjects such as Diabetes Management, Insulin Pump Therapy, Clinical Research, and healthcare policy. She says that she only succeeds as a provider if she turns patients into experts on their own disease. Individualized approach to diabetes intervention is crucial to success according to Dr. Miller. She feels if our nation is to triumph over the ravages of diabetes, a collaborative effort needs to be done. Diabetes Nation provides a model to impact the people that represent this disease, and begin the process of restoring hope back to their lives. Dr Miller and her husband keep busy with their two children, who enjoy snowboarding, boating and playing basketball in central Oregon.
