Banner Health
Dr. Richard Guthrie is a doctor. He received his Doctor of Osteopathy from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. After completing his internship at The Western Pennsylvania Hospital in Pittsburgh, Dr. Guthrie went on to serve as a Flight Surgeon in the Air Force, logging over 200 flying hours in F-16, F-15, and F-4 fighter aircraft, as well as many other military platforms. He completed a residency in Internal Medicine. He became the Medical Director of Palliative Care at Banner Boswell Medical Center after graduating from the inaugural fellowship class for Hospice and Palliative Medicine at Banner University Medical Center/ Phoenix VA Medical Center. A member of the clinical faculty at the University of Arizona, College of Medicine – Phoenix, Dr. Guthrie has also served on the clinical faculty of the Midwestern University College of Osteopathic Medicine. His professional passion is to educate students, residents, fellows, and his primary care and other specialist colleagues about the fields of Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
