Description

CBT helps clients break free from negative thoughts. Do you know if the more you challenge your client’s thoughts, the worse they get?

In the clinical research literature, the evidence for usingMindfulness is exploding. If used to help clients temporarily feel better, you might be reinforcing avoidance of their thoughts and feelings, making them worse in the long run.

I am often asked how the two can work together. Acceptance of reality in this moment is one of the things that CBT emphasizes. The answer is simple. We must accept reality in order to build a life worth living.

You get the best of both cognitive therapies with MBCT. MBCT has decades of research support. The 8 sessions of the formal MBCT protocol are a boot camp for clients and clinicians to learn and experience the subtle and sophisticated principles of CBT. The principles can be used to synergize the effectiveness of what you are already doing.

You can’t leverage the power of these techniques just by reading about them. It is important to experience these interventions for yourself. The two-day MBCT recorded workshop will be led by Dr. Richard Sears. Along with tips for adapting the material into a variety of individual therapy settings, you will experience every aspect of the program.

Programs like MBCT have been shown to reduce stress for clinicians. When clinicians practice for themselves, their clients have better outcomes.
