Introducing 50 Filler Exercises from Rick Kaselj:
I have a name. Rick Kaselj. . I teach effective exercises to help the body move better. I have written numerous articles that have appeared in newspapers and fitness magazines, have written leading exercise injury manuals, and have given presentations to more than 6,000 health and fitness professionals across Canada and the USA.
50 exercises for improved performance 21 years of hands-on experience, constant searching for the best exercises and techniques, and teaching of these techniques to thousands of other fitness and health professionals across the globe is the result of our combined 11 years of University study. Thousands of personal training sessions with clients and careful scrutiny of hundreds of medical research papers are not included.
How this Whole Thing Came to Be……
I was helping a client named Phil who had injured his knee. He was a gym goer. I gave him a lot of exercises to rehabilitate his knee.
I was in the gym when I saw Phil. I told him to continue with the rest of his exercise program because he was fine to do upper body work.
Phil was working out at the gym, going through his upper body exercises, and at the same time, he was doing knee rehabilitation exercises that I gave him. I asked him after watching what he was doing. Phil, what are you doing?
He told me. I don’t have time to do the knee exercises. I don’t have time to do my knee rehab exercises because I have to go to the gym quickly.
He was doing his knee rehab exercises in between sets, instead of just resting between sets or walking around the gym.
I tested it on myself and my clients. It worked.
That is where the idea for the exercise came from.
I add exercises in between the workouts of my clients. The exercises help people get more out of their workouts.
Why Do You Give Filler Exercises to Your Clients?
There are many reasons why my clients do Filler exercises.
1. The movement is improved.
Most of us have been sitting or lying down and our bodies are not ready to work out. I use exercises to improve my movement. When you improve your movement, you are less likely to get injured, you are able to fend off injury, you are able to prepare the body to workout, and you are able to push your body harder during your workout.
2. The Joints are Lubricated.
It lubricates the joints through full range of motion. The body can move the joints into better positions with less resistance.
3. The Stabilizing Muscles are activated.
The stabilizer muscles protect the joints from injury. If you are sitting for a long period of time, the stabilizing muscles are not working properly. The joints are exposed to injury when they are not activated properly.
4. The range of motion has been increased.
It affects the range of motion in our joints when we sit or lie down for more than 30 minutes. The neck, shoulders, mid-back, hips and knees. The range of motion in these joints can be increased by doing filler exercises.
5. Circulation improves in the muscles.
Circulation in the muscle is improved by using the muscles.
The reason I do the filler exercises in between sets is because I don’t want my clients to rest or go to the drinking fountain. I will give them a couple of exercises that they can do to target the joints and the movements that they have difficulty with.
I give them at least 3 to 5 filler exercises that they can do in between the sets to help them improve their movement as well as their workout in general.
6. Addresses Muscle Imbalances.
Being in many static positions like sitting or lying down can cause muscle imbalances. The muscle imbalances can lead to injury.
