Her name is Sharri Murphy, LMSW. She is a licensed clinical social worker with vast experience providing mental health services, crisis intervention, and trauma therapy. She facilitates ongoing trainings for human service providers and first responders and is certified in culturally-competent and racially-responsive counseling. She is the Director of Training and Education at the North Star Wellness Center. She teaches about power and privilege at Michigan State University and is a trainer for the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards.

Her career has included training, education and program evaluation. From 2005 to 2015, she worked in the Sexual assault program at the counseling center. She studied the impact of racism and other forms of oppression while she was a member of the Multi-Ethnic Counseling Center Alliance. Prior to that, she was employed at the Michigan Public Health Institute. She worked with American Indian and Alaska Native tribes as well as victim service agencies in the state of Michigan.

She earned a degree in Public Policy and Health. She completed a Masters in Social Work Program Evaluation & Administration. Human rights, cultural change, the Great Lakes and belly laughs are some of the topics that Shari is passionate about.
