Tom Myers – Dynamic Resilience – Lecture

If you were not able to attend in person, we offer a video recording of the lecture. Tom’s lecture includes his perspectives on dynamic resilience from birth to death, with embodied practices of visual and kinesthetic methods of learning, and recent research on fascia and the importance of movement.

Increasing resilience is needed to move through life. The biology of resilience focuses on movement, specifically conditioning the body, and learning self-regulation through breathing. Real and practical tools are available for healthy aging and injury repair.

Every one of our 70 trillion cells is shaped by the fibers and gels of the body. All the branches of medicine are connected by the fascial web. From foetal life to full growth, from having children and on into menopause, the fascial system is fully involved with our functional health.

In light of ancient wisdom, Tom reviews new research. Although aging cannot be stopped, this talk is built around Tom’s experience and research into dynamic resilience.

All of us have to live in our bodies. Some people let their genes work it out. This evening builds on the idea that conscious attention invested in the body can take many forms, not just the obvious one of exercise, which will tickle the right genes and repay handsomely on all levels of being.
