The key to success in life is to not give a fuck. We often refer to the strongest, most admirable people we know in terms of their lack of fucks. Susie doesn’t give a fuck, like Oh, look at Susie working weekends again, she doesn’t give a fuck. Did you hear that Tom called the company president an asshole and still got a raise? That dude doesn’t give a fuck. He ended his date with Cindy after 20 minutes. He said he wouldn’t listen to her anymore. The guy doesn’t give a fuck.

At one time or another, someone in your life who did not give a fuck and went on to accomplish amazing feats, is likely to be you. Maybe there was a time in your life when you didn’t give a fuck and excelled. I quit my day job in finance after only six weeks and told my boss that I was going to start selling dating advice online, whichranks pretty high in my own hall of fame. I decided to sell most of my possessions and move to South America. Fucks given? None. Just did it.

It may seem simple on the surface, but it is a whole new bag of burritos under the hood. I don’t give a fuck because I don’t know what that means. A bag of burritos sounds great.

The point is that most of us struggle throughout our lives because we give too many fucks. The rude gas station attendant gave us too many nickels. We don’t like when a show is canceled on TV. We don’t like when our coworkers don’t ask about our weekend. We were supposed to go jogging in the morning, but it was raining.

Fucks given everywhere. In mother-fuck spring time, Strewn about like seeds. And for what purpose? What is the reason? Convenience? Is it easy comforts? Maybe a pat on the back?

My friend, this is the problem.

We feel as though we are entitled to feel comfortable and happy at all times when we give too many fucks and choose to give a fuck about everything.

Life would be a lot easier if we were able to reserve our fucks for the most fuckworthy situations. It would be less frightening to fail. Rejection is less painful. There are more pleasant necessities and there are more bad sandwiches. Life would feel pretty easy if we could only give a few less fucks.

There is a fine art of non-fuck-giving. People aren’t just born with it. We are born giving way too many fucks. Have you ever watched a kid cry because his hat is the wrong shade of blue? Exactly. Fuck that kid.

The essence of strength and integrity is the ability to control and manage. Over the course of years and decades, we must craft and hone our lack of fuckery. Our fucks must age into a fine vintage, only uncorked and given on special occasions.

This may seem easy. It is not. Most of the time, we get sucked in by life’s mean trivialities, steamrolled by its unimportant dramas, and we live and die by the sidenotes and distraction that suck the fucks out of us.

This is not a way to live. Don’t fuck around. Together, get your fucks together. Allow me to show you.
