Without credibility, it’s almost impossible to sell to an audience

I spoke to an audience of about 250 people in Chicago in 2008. Most conferences you go to are a conference. It was my turn to speak. I made an offer to the audience after my speech. Most of the audience bought the product for about $300.

I was not the first speaker. I did not have a first-speaker advantage. Most of the audience didn’t know me. I sold over $20,000 worth of product without a sales pitch.

So what causes presentations to come alive?

Most of us have given presentations. No matter how good the competition is, it is about setting the stage alight. Even if your presentation is recorded, live or digital, it needs to get you from little known to credible in a matter of seconds.

So why is this factor of speed so critical?

You can either get the audience to buy into an idea or invest in a product or service. You need more than luck to make a leap of faith. If you want the audience to be locked in to your presentation, you need a step-by-system. You will have done an outstanding job, not because of the applause, but because of the action the audience takes right after your presentation.
