Richard told me about goal-getting. Robin Sharma wrote And Creating a life you adore. The leader who had no title was the author.
I am a simple man. I MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE It was from humble beginnings. There is no silver spoon.
I have had some victories. They have been knocked down with defeats. The view from the top of the mountain. And walked through the valleys. I have refused to give up on A Life.
A giant dream came true when I was invited to share the stage with Richard Branson at The Ultimate Success Summit in Romania, he was on my Top 5 People I’d Like to Have Dinner With Before I Die list.
It was larger than life. The man on a thousand magazine covers was friendly, passionate, charismatic and confident. It’s fun.
I believe in goals. It is always a good thing to have a dream. If you want to do something, do it. Whatever you want. The man is Richard Branson.
We debated leadership in that hour. We talked about success. We looked at innovation. We dove into the thick of what it means to do our best work while crafting lives that make the world a better place. Making money without meaning is an empty victory. My personal goal in preparing for the session was to know more about the man than anyone else. To push him to go where he was before. To be prepared but over-prepared.
I read everything I could get my hands on about the rare-air life of this celebrated business titan.
Fantasizing about the future is one of my favorite pastimes. The man is Richard Branson.
When he was four, his mother left him in a field miles away from home with the instructions to find his way back alone, an exercise to develop the independence that has since served him so well.
He came up with the name Virgin in 1969 and launched Student, a youth culture magazine at the age of 16. The disruptor started a mail order business at twenty. Two years later, the first Virgin record store appeared.
His critics called him crazy as he entered the airline business with Virgin Atlantic, but I learned of his fierce appetite for risk-taking and betting the farm in pursuit of any goal he wants to get done. He acknowledged that it was a dangerous play with his words: The fastest way to become a millionaire in the airline business is to start out as a billionaire.
In my research, I came across other brilliant one-liners that are rich in wisdom for those of us devoted to mastery in business and the building of a world-class life.
If you lose your good name, you will never be happy. There is a thought at the back of your mind that people don’t trust you.
The man is Richard Branson.
It’s all about branding. A young girl once told me that I could be famous because I looked like Richard Branson.
The man is Richard Branson.
Complexity is your enemy. It is possible for a fool to make something complicated. It is difficult to keep things simple.
The man is Richard Branson.
Is my biggest motivation? To keep challenging myself. Life is almost like one long university education that I never had.
The man is Richard Branson.
My interest in life comes from setting myself huge, apparently unachievable challenges and trying to rise above them.
The man is Richard Branson.
There are no rules. You don’t have to follow the rules to walk. It is because you fall over that you learn to save yourself from falling over.
The man is Richard Branson.
I may be a businessman in that I set up and run companies for profit, but when I try to plan ahead and dream up new products and new companies, I am an idealist.
The man is Richard Branson.
I am the master of my fate and the captain of my ship. I believe in myself. I believe in the hands that work, in the brains that think, and in the hearts that love.
The man is Richard Branson.
I don’t think of work as work and play as play. It is all living.
The man is Richard Branson.
It doesn’t make people enjoy life more if they can’t afford expensive things, and it sends bad messages to the people who work for them. It would be better if the money was spent in Africa.
The man is Richard Branson.
I can’t remember a time when I didn’t feel loved by my family. We were a family that would have killed each other.
The man is Richard Branson.
I don’t want to waste a minute of my life.
The man is Richard Branson.
All amazing. Truly. It is inspiring, actually.
What fascinated me most was not his accomplishments, but his uncommon productivity practices.
He doesn’t use computers and was saved by his wife Joan from being the only person to put up his hand at a conference where Bill Gates asked if there was anyone in the room who still didn’t use the Internet. He gets up at 5:30 am to go to his private office on Necker Island. It is a great time to think about things. In an interview with FORTUNE magazine, Richard Branson said that he comes up with more ideas here than he does back home. Executives from around the world show up at his house in London for meetings. He believes that he is close to his family because he is often around them.
The visionary in black denim jeans who sat in front of me was a powerful daily habit.
One that was perhaps his simplest…
He carried a black notebook with him that he used to write down his ideas, insights and goals.
He kept a black composition book.
Individual commitments and his creative ideas. He has a lot of business conversations during his day. drafts of letters to his friends. There are private notes like Michael Jackson wanted to come to Necker Island next week. Joan said, Extremism in the pursuit of excellence is not a vice. anecdotes such as why the British immigration agent who was clearly aware of who Sir Richard was asked to see his passport She said they wanted to know your age.
Our meeting was unforgettable. The real purpose of this post is to let you know about it.
Goal-getting is important. Writing down the brave acts and bold dreams you intend to accomplish will give you the spark to get them done. It works for Richard. I want it to work for you as well.
