The use of clinical hypnoses, as well as an accepting compassionate stance of the therapist, are included in successful brief psychotherapeutic work with gay men. Positive self-representations and ego-state work help heal from years of shame. Specific issues for gay men, core issues common in the gay male community, and effective short-term treatment strategies will be discussed.
The educational objectives are listed.
- Assess specific clinical needs for gay male patients and develop customized interventions based on these needs.
- Describe and utilize at least three successful hypnotic techniques specific for gay men.
- Create dialogues pertaining to safer sexual practices and drug use that are motivational for their patients.
