Description
This is a description.
Hypnotherapy and psychotherapy have been going on for a long time. Directive therapies with an intervention orientation have changed over the years to suggestive and client centered approaches. Research and practice have opened our minds to responsive approaches. The concept of client responsiveness is discussed in my book. We are following the ideas and practices of a man who was ahead of his time. There are many examples of prescience found in the 16 volumes of The Collected Works of Milton Erickson. The presentation explores how to use the concepts of being client-responsive in a creative way. The session will look at language principles, sensitive observation and improvisational responsiveness. In a series of activities, we will discuss and experience these qualities. These elements allow for the co-creation of a therapeutic experience that fully embraces both the qualities of the therapist and the implicit expertise within the client to mutually discover what needs to be done.
The educational objectives are listed.
- List and demonstrate various language principles of client responsive therapy.
- Describe and demonstrate practical activities that enhance the therapist’s sensitive observation of the client.
- Describe and demonstrate how to be responsive to the client and co-create the therapeutic experience.
Session may be edited to preserve confidentiality.
