Karen J. Nichols is a doctor. He was the Dean of the Midwestern University Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. She was the first woman to serve as President of the American Osteopathic Association. She was the first woman president of the American Osteopathic College of Internists. One of the first two DOs to be elected to the ACGME Board was Dr. Nichols, who is the Vice Chair of the Board of Directors. She is the Immediate Past President of the Chicago Board of Governors. Dr. Nichols holds a master’s degree in Management with a specialty in healthcare administration from Central Michigan University and speaks nationally on physician leadership skills as well as ethical dilemmas at the end of life.
