Herbal Immersion Program Outline

Module 1: Foundations in Herbalism

Cultivating relationships with healing plants, plant families, vegetation and floral terms, herbal actions, ethical wildcrafting and spring plant walk.

Module 2: The Nitty-Gritty of Soil, Part 1

The principles of organic gardening include planning your dream garden, growing healthy soil, building soil fertility, and creating new garden beds. Container gardening.

Module 3: Common Useful Garden Weeds

Daylily; Lamb’s Quarters. The plants are chickweed, dandelion, and violet. The dead plant is purple. Cleavers; Greens. The Garlic Mustard is yellow. The Japanese are known for their honeysuckle.

Module 4: Plant Propagation

Light-Dependent Germination is one of the Special Strategies for Germinating Herbs. Preparing seed trays, sowing seeds, soil blocks, bottom heat, root division, Stem Cuttings and Layering.

Module 5: Tonic Herbs and Adaptogens

Adaptogens, Alteratives and Tonic Herbs are introduced. Gotu; Kola. Oats; Nettles. Astragalus; Ginseng. There is a flower called Hibiscus.

Module 6: The Nitty-Gritty of Soil, Part 2

Building a compost pile. Composting leaves are organic. Pest and disease management. There is a season extension and a homemade potting soil.
