I can’t believe how much has changed since then. I am a lettering artist who has published two books and traveled around the world painting murals.

After 2 years of full-time work, I broke a 6-figure income. I couldn’t believe it when it happened. I called my agent to see if it was an accounting mistake. I left a job that paid $60K and nearly doubled it after two years, while I knew this was no guarantee of future 6-figure years, I kept learning and my business kept growing.

I have been able to work on my own terms because of this success.

There are many factors that can affect success in the creative industry, but my number one answer is: Projects that are passionate!

I created the first passion project. Dishonesty on a daily basis. At the age of 22, he turned into a 5-figure book deal with a NYC publisher after starting as a drunk joke with a friend.

Another passion project. Will write a letter for lunch. The lack of quality chalkboard art on restaurant signs came to me as I was searching for a place to eat. I went from having no experience with chalk lettering to booking chalk lettering projects with clients like Samuel Adams in less than a year after combining two things I love.

My passion projects gave me the financial security I needed to leave my full-time job, and also gave me the creative confidence I needed to hand lettering as a career.

It is the answer to anyone who has ever looked at my work and wondered.
