The son of a former slave, Mance Lipscomb lived most of his life in Texas, supporting himself and his family by tenant farming. He played music for his neighbors at local Saturday night parties. Mance was discovered in 1960. Mance was performing at festivals, concert halls and clubs around the country within a short period of time. There is a rare television concert recorded in Texas in 1969. The panorama shows the genius of Mance.
